Issued in 1876 by J.R. Osgood and Company, this American folio contains heliotype reproductions of animal paintings by Sir Edwin Landseer. The plates are printed on thick paper with wide uncut margins. A biographical sketch precedes the images and outlines exhibitions, recurring themes, and career milestones. This text appears to be specific to the Boston edition. The volume is bound in original green cloth, bevelled boards, with gilt blocking on spine and front board. The central panel features a gilt stag surrounded by decorative black ruling. Condition: Near Fine. Moderate wear to the corners and spine ends. Gilt is intact. Internally complete with no foxing, inscriptions, or water damage. All text and plates are present. This edition does not appear in Abbey and is not listed in standard Landseer bibliographies. Item Number: #28620. Questions or photo requests welcome.
