Item description from seller

Offering this scarce first edition of the early medical text, "Electro-Therapy in the Abstract for the Busy Practitioner," by Anthony Matijaca. Philadelphia: The Dando Company, 1916, 1st printing. Stiff brown card wrappers with gilt stamped front, size 7.5x5 inches, pp. 121 plus folding pull-out chart of various electrical modalities. Illustrations in b/w, including some photo plates. Published at a time when electrical medicine was rapidly changing, this handbook served as a practical compendium and quick-reference manual for early 20th-century doctors looking to implement galvanic, faradic, static, and high-frequency currents into their clinical practices. It includes notable early methods regarding the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis and pneumonia using electrical currents by Dr. Omar T. Cruikshank. Overall condition is Very Good. Binding is secure, cover/wrapper shows moderate bumping and wear, gilt dulled. Interior is clean and unmarked, pages gently age-toned but remaining bright. The fold-out chart is completely intact, with just the middle fold starting/splitting about one third of the way. A nice uncommon copy! [C2].…
