About this Item
Electricity. 158 page section from the 6th edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica on this subject/science in 6 sections: From General Ideas to Principles by Experiment to Theory and lastly Atmospherical. With 13 copper plates with 132 various implements and diagrams. Showing various contraptions for electrical experimentation and their uses. This explained in the body of the text. Paper browned and light foxing or age spotting to the copper plates. One of the last parts examines the Aurora Borealis or ?Merry Dancers? as it was once called in the Shetlands. Section ends on the discussion of electricity on Vegetation. Ends abruptly at last page! But tiny section only lost. Original early 19th century extract with all the old stitching showing from once being bound. This last page and section on the effects on vegetation is lacking tiny part as it explains the engraving (image number 133) which we have in the plates and the description begins on the final page but quite long full page still here included.
