Add to basketGood+ copy of first edition with copyright page printed upside down (later editions corrected). Dark brown leather covers with blind-stamped arts-and-crafts designs. Binding involves three holes per page, with leather ties that are pretty much gone with the ages. Pages are thus loose, but well-kept with bright orange detailing. Still a good copy of this scarce edition. Full title: "Elbert Hubbard's Scrap Book Containing the Inspired and Inspiring Selections, gathered during a Life Time of Discriminating Reading for His Own Use. Printed and Made Into a Book by the Roycrofters, at Their Shops, in East Aurora, Erie County, New York State." From Wikipedia: "Roycroft was a reformist community of craft workers and artists which formed part of the Arts and Crafts movement in the United States. Elbert Hubbard founded the community in 1895, in the village of East Aurora, New York, near Buffalo. Participants were known as Roycrofters. The work and philosophy of the group, often referred to as the Roycroft movement, had a strong influence on the development of American architecture and design in the early 20th century.".
