Volume I only. xxiv, 623pp, [1]. Original publisher's brown cloth, lettered in gilt. A trifle rubbed. Inked ownership inscription of John Douglas Slim (1927-2019), son of Field Marshal William Slim, to recto of FFEP. The first edition of the first volume of Compton Mackenzie's (1883-1972) commissioned history of the Army of India during the Second World War. A second volume was planned, but seemingly never published. Size: 8vo.
