About this Item
First UK Edition. Publisher's cornflower-blue boards with black lettering to the front board and spine. Boards exceptionally bright and clean. Spine tips slightly softened (hardly worth mentioning) and offsetting to both sets of end-papers otherwise a VG++ copy in a VG+ dustwrapper priced 3/6 net to the front panel (as called for). The dustwrapper has minor chipping at the left and right corner of the spine ends. NB: this book was published new at 3/6 (as per the rear flap of the dustwrapper). "Adventure lies in the East, and Mr. Parkman has made good use of his opportunities. James Carfax, tired of the Italian bout on which he has been second mate, decides to seek another job. He picks up a suspiciously good one on a private yacht, and finds himself among a mixed gang with a still more mixed motive, which turns out to be pearl-poaching on an island in the Pacific, owned by France. His refusal to, have anything to do with the poachers does not preclude him from participating in a most exciting adventure, in which romance plays its part (The Mercury, Hobart, Tasmania, 1931)". NB: Not unsurprisingly there is a copy of this book in the National Library of Singapore. Photographs/scans available upon request. Uncommon. Seller Inventory # 355490722994
