London: Hurst and Blackett, 1861. Tall 8vo. 1st edn. xi + [1] + 431pp + [16pp publisher's catalogue]. Engraved frontispiece, engraved vignette on title page, and 8 engraved plates. Rebound in blue morocco, and matching cloth. Marbled edges. Some occasional spotting here and there, but text and plates are generally quite clean. Very good. Berkeley left England in the summer of 1859 to pursue buffalo hunting in and around Fort Riley and the western part of Kansas. His adventures are illustrated with engravings of the buffalo, the buffalo hunts, and other encounters with wildlife. A book by a sportsman with an inquiring mind.
