1st edn., paperback original, 103pp, numerous half tone photo ills. and maps, stapled photo pictorial wrappers, 9 x 7", in 'The Army at War' series, an account of the 8th Army as an independent force in the Western Desert, from it's formation in September 1941 until January 1943 when it became part of the 18th Army. Comprised of units from all over the British Empire it was directly opposed by Rommell's Afrika Korps but also involved in securing Syria and Iraq against Axis control. After early success with the relief of the siege of Tobruk, Tobruk fell with the next German advance which at one stage seemed unstoppable, until Alamein and the tide turned, a little rubbed at extrems., staples replaced and binding reinforced, very good, Seller Inventory # 38032
