First British edition( preceded by the US edition) of a collection of short stories of mystery, horror and suspense set in London's Limehouse district ( Chinatown).A VERY GOOD book( fine grained green cloth boards, slightly mottled; gilt lettering; slight foxing to endpapers ; faint musty odour when fanned) in SCARCE, VERY GOOD white jacket with wonderfully realized illustration to front pannel( spine severely tanned; browned and foxed to verso; small water "tide" mark at spine base actually washes the spine clean of tan to reveall the CASSELL imprint; slight shallow chipping to spine ends and one small triangular chip to top of front panel).
