First edition. With seven black and white photographic plates and a folding map. 8vo. Original printed wrappers, stapled; a few small rust stains to covers, two small tears to the spine, interior pages a little browned. A good copy. [iv], 44pp. N.p., n.d., [but An extremely rare pamphlet of articles on the history of Iraq by the British archaeologist Seton Lloyd (1902-1996). The articles were first published in 1943, appearing in two British Iraq-based publications, The Iraq Times and Trunk Call (a weekly issued for the soldiers of Paiforce). Lloyd later put together the present collection "in answer to many requests" (p.[ii]). The content stretches from Babylonian history to General Maude's entry into Baghdad in March 1917. Seemingly unrecorded, with no copies in LibraryHub or OCLC. The lack of surviving copies suggests it was published in the Middle East (probably Iraq) during the Second World War. 'MEB 128' is printed at the base of the rear wrapper, and is the only indication of location and publisher. Seller Inventory # 233261
