First Edition ( 'First published in the United States in 1994' ). There are only a few other copies of this book for sale on the Internet. Once listed, this will be the Only signed copy. The signed inscription reads: 'To Justin, I hope you enjoy lots of relaxing walks down The Dusty Road. Barry Reder.' You can see the covers in the photos. They are very clean. They have very little wear, a little crinkling the spine ends and a tiny crease at the front bottom corner. The spine has a moderate forward lean. The book has a stapled binding. It is very solid. All the pages are nicely tight, as are the covers. The pages are exceptionally clean and in excellent shape. I didn't see any soiling at all. I didn't see any creasing. There are no markings. No attachments of any kind. And the author's signed inscription is the only writing the book. The illustrations by Cheryl Moreno are charming (and serene). There are also a few small photographs taken by the author. The design of the book complements the story beautifully. Here are some excerpts from an article I found about the book and author that will give you a feeling for what the story is about: 'One day in 1989, Barry Reder took a quiet moment-- a feat for a busy lawyer--and wrote down the bedtime story he had made up years before to help his young daughter fall asleep. Days before, a doctor had informed Reder he had a heart condition, and, thinking of his own mortality, Reder felt compelled to preserve the story for the grandchildren he might never know. As it turned out, the doctor misdiagnosed Reder's condition. He remains healthy. But the bad experience led to something good. Reder wrote 'The Dusty Road,' one of the things he had always told himself he wanted to get done but never had time for. The bedtime story is about a serene, peaceful walk that eases both reader and listener into a state of drowsiness. 'When my older daughter, Libby, was about 8, she used to thrash around at bedtime,' he said. 'She was not ready to go to sleep. Life was too much fun. I began telling her a story about a walk down the dusty road. It became a ritual.' One day, when Libby was in fourth grade, she told the story to restless classmates and helped everybody calm down. The book is unlike the typical bright, hardcover children's book. It is a paperback that at first glance resembles a brochure, filled with soft water-color paintings and faded photographs. After receiving 35 rejections from publishers, Reder turned to friends and associates in the print and publishing business. With their help, he was able to get 5,000 copies published. 'I designed the story to be the last part of the bedtime reading ritual,' he said. 'But I'm finding it is being used much more by adults to calm them down. I sometimes say that 'The Dusty Road' is a Mr. Rogers minute in a Sesame Street world. Mr. Rogers is quiet, and Sesame Street is Boom, boom, boom!'.…

Many of the books I will be selling can accurately be described as ranging from somewhat rare to very rare. In some cases there won't be another copy for sale anywhere on the Internet. There doesn't seem much point, for you or me, in offering something that so many others are already offering. Subject matter will range very widely, creating the possibility for people with very different interests to find something that excites them. As regards pricing, my primary goal is to sell the book. Most often I would expect my book to be the least expensive option on the Internet taking into account an appropriate comparison(what is the condition, is the dust jacket present, is the book signed, is it a first printing, etc.). More important than selling the book I want to make sure that you know, as much as is possible, exactly what you are getting. To that end, you'll notice that my descriptions of condition tend to be lengthy, and that there will always be photographs to help you draw your own conclusions. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about a given book. As regards international shipping, the first class or standard rates I charge are based on a package weight between 2 and 3 pounds. If the book is on the thin side there is a possibility that I can securely pack it up under 2 pounds in weight. If so, the shipping price will drop by around $11.00 or $12.00 to $26.00-27.00. Canada, which is less expensive drops to $18.00. You can contact me before purchasing a book for an estimate on the shipping cost. If you buy the book and it weighs in below 2 pounds you'll get a Reduced Shipping message and amount with the invoice and you'll see the lowered final cost before you make your payment.…

Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Rareeclectic, Pound Ridge, New York, U.S.A., without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.

Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.
