Hardly scarce, but still a handsome jacketed edition of this best seller. Publisher's orange top stain to top edge of text block. Publisher's blue cloth with bright, orange title on cover and spine. Owner's book plate on inside cover. Unclipped dust jacket with $2.50 price intact, now wrapped in Brodart. Map end papers. This work by Edmonds, which follows the lives of fictional Gil and Lana Martin, settlers in the Mohawk Valley of the New York frontier during the American Revolutionary War, was successfully adapted as a Technicolor feature film in 1939, directed by John Ford and starring Henry Fonda and Claudette Colbert.
