Item description from seller

Hardcover in original brown buckram with bands imprinted on spine and decoration imprinted on front. First edition. Title in bright gilt on spine. A fascinating document specifying in tremendous detail the dress requirements for every officer in the British Army. This copy is heavily annotated in what seems to be an editor or copy editor's hand, or perhaps a higher- up who amended the printed instructions. The annotations are in red ink and also via typed strips loosely attached to the pages. The dress codes include myriad upon myriad of details, even specifying different heights of bear skin depending on the height of the fusiliers. Pages are clean and fresh, with very light tanning. Binding is holding, but with broken hinges. 4to. 104 pp. of text plus index; 58 pages of black-and-white illustrations showing caps, shoulder cords, badges, tunics, cuffs, shoulder straps, headdresses, great coats, and much more. From the estate of Donald G. Skinner, Canadian military collector extraordinaire. Heavy--may require additional postage if shipped outside the U.S.…
