Drawn and Quartered is the first published anthology of Charles “Chas” Addams’ macabre single?panel cartoons, originally appearing in The New Yorker. The book gathers 96 pages of Addams’ early work, including the earliest appearances of the characters who would later evolve into The Addams Family! The Collection Contains: Anthology of Addams’ early cartoons: A curated selection of his darkly humorous, gothic single?panel drawings. Early Addams Family prototypes: The family appears, though not yet fully named or standardized. Macabre domestic scenes: Addams’ signature blend of the sinister and the mundane, elegant linework, dry wit, and understated morbidity. Cheerfully morbid gags involving death, danger, and the supernatural; Suburban absurdity - the sinister lurking beneath polite society; Visual punchlines that reward slow, observant reading; Gothic whimsy that would later define the Addams Family franchise.
