This history begins at the end of the Protestant Reformation, when the unity of western Christendom was shattered, and moves through the next three centuries of conflict and toleration among Christians, Jews, and Muslims across the continent from the British Isles to Poland. Vivid examples of improvised arrangements show that peace coexistence is possible, and how common folk contributed to toleration as significantly as did intellectuals and rulers. Clean except a name and date written on the first page and some wrinkling of the top of the dust jacket.
