About the Author: Dr. John Hjelm is Professor of Exercise and Sport at North Park University in Chicago where he has taught since 1977. He earned degrees in physical education and exercise physiology culminating in a Ph.D. in Health Education from The Ohio State University.During his career Dr. Hjelm has taught a variety of classes including Health and Behavior, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, and Health Promotion. He enjoys teaching different courses and has worked to be a generalist in an age of specialization. Part of the attraction of Health is that it incorporates the whole person.He has presented at the state and national levels on topics such as spiritual and emotional health, savvy fitness consumers, assessing physical fitness, evaluating body composition, and obesity.
