xxxix, 433pp. Frontispiece portrait, pages unopened, some spotting to the first and last few pages, some small cracks to inner hinge joint of the frontis with small tide mark to very lower outer blank corner. Armorial bookplate of Sheffield Neave to front paste down, with relevant presentation inscription to the inner blank. Publishers blind stamped cloth with central patterned vignette and rolled borders to upper and lower boards. The cloth clean the binding tight with no splits chips or marks. A Dictionary of the Suahili (Swahili) language of Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and elsewhere in Equatorial East Africa. The work was compiled by the linguist, Dr Ludwig Krapf of the Church Missionary Society. He died in 1879 before the work was completed and the dictionary was finished under the auspices of the Committee of the Church Missionary Society. Seller Inventory # 04628
