Bound in period quarter speckled sheep over marbled paper boards, with black leather spine labels titled in gilt. A sound and generally clean copy, though with several ex-library indicators: East Coast scholarly library bookplate to the front pastedown, remnant of a due date label to the rear endpaper, and a small abrasion to the leather at the base of the spine, likely from the removal of a shelf label. The sheep leather is rubbed and lightly scuffed over the spine and corner tips, with minor loss and softening at spine ends. The leather title labels are rubbed and slightly stressed, but the gilt remains legible and fairly bright. Contents clean and complete, with no markings to the text block. An uncommon and foundational Hawaiian language reference, representing the first major Hawaiian-English dictionary, produced by missionary-educator, Lorrin Andrews. G++.
