Complete 4 volume set, published 1882-88. This title was part of a 1981 Grolier Club exhibition of bibliographical milestones. In the exhibition's catalog, BIBLIOGRAPHY, ITS HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT, Breslauer/Folter describe it as the "first edition of the best bibliography of anonymously or pseudonymously published English works." Because it was not available from the Grolier Club's own huge library, a set for display had to be borrowed from Harvard. Volume I: (vii), columns 1-870 + 25 page errata/ publisher's catalog/index; Volume II: (iv), columns 871 - 1762 + Note; Volume III: (iv), columns 1763 - 2596 + 16 page publisher's catalog; Volume IV: (vii), columns 2597 - 2854 + INDEX TO AUTHORS' PSEUDONYMS (columns i - ccccxxiv) + 16 page publisher's catalog. The four volumes are bound in the original gilt-stamped maroon cloth. Oversize Hardcover. 6.75" wide by 10.25" tall by 7.5" thick (altogether).
