Edited by Edward S. Luce, map, 52pp., wraps. An offprint from North Dakota History, Vol. 25, Nos. 2 and 3, April-July 1958. Luther #65. Dustin #378. Dowd #1984 and #1986. O'Keefe #728. Near Fine. Dr. DeWolf was one of three surgeions with the 7th Cavalry at the Little Big Horn, and he died in the Reno retreat from the Valley. He had managed to race his horse to and across the Little Big Horn river but in ascending the bluffs, he took a ravine off to the left from most of the troops and met hostile warriors who shot and killed him. Includes his last letter to his wife (which is Dustin #358).
