Item description from seller

[SCIENCE]. Thomas Meures. "Development of a Sub-Glacial Radio Telescope for the Detection of GZK Neutrinos (Springer Theses: Recognizing Outstanding Ph.D. Research)." Cham, CH: Springer International Publishing Switzerland. Printed in the USA, 2015. First edition. English language. Hardcover in glossy printed boards. Nonfiction academic science text in eleven chapters with foreword, abstract, two appendices, and numerous black-and-white and color charts, graphs, and tables. 8vo. 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches. 17 oz. xiv, 160 pp. Text clean. Like New to Fine. ISSN: 2190-5053. ISBN: 3319187554. "The goal of the project presented in this book is to detect neutrinos created by resonant interactions of ultrahigh energy cosmic rays on the CMB photon field filling the Universe. In this pioneering first analysis, the author puts forward much of the analysis framework, including calibrations of the electronic hardware and antenna geometry, as well as the development of algorithms for event reconstruction and data reduction. While only two of the thirty-seven stations planned for the Askaryan Radio Array were used in this assessment of ten months of data, the analysis was able to exclude neutrino fluxes above 10 PeV with a limit not far from the best current limit set by the IceCube detector, a result which establishes the radio detection technique as the path forward to achieving the massive volumes needed to detect these ultrahigh energy neutrinos.".…

Store description

I sell uncommon art catalogs, academic monographs, and prints, as well as rare ephemera such as posters and zines. I ship from Brooklyn, New York. I am an alum of the Rare Book School and the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar, as well as Indiana University and the Ohio State University. I started in the trade at the Wexner Center for the Arts bookstore, and I have previously worked for the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago's Department of Prints and Drawings, and the Indiana University Art Museum's center for Prints, Drawings, and Photographs. More recently, I was the rare book cataloger at Donald Heald Rare Books, for whom I worked the ABAA's New York International Antiquarian Book Fair.…
