Seller: Forgotten Books, London, United Kingdom
Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating history of how our modern understanding of individual liberty came to be. The author takes us on a journey through four distinct periods, starting with medieval England and culminating in the American colonies and the creation of the U.S. Constitution. By examining the evolving relationship between those who hold power and those subject to it, the book reveals how the concept of "liberty under law" gradually took root. We see how this idea, enshrined in documents like the Magna Carta, served as a bulwark against arbitrary rule and paved the way for the guarantees of freedom we cherish today. Through meticulous historical analysis, the author illuminates the ongoing struggle to strike a balance between the needs of society and the rights of individuals. This book offers a profound exploration of the intellectual and political battles that shaped our fundamental freedoms, reminding us that liberty is not a static state but a dynamic process, continuously refined and defended throughout history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Seller Inventory # 9780243119318_0
