Item description from seller

The back-jacket blurb for these 511 pages promises a woman in love. Maybe its the one Detective Joe Leland gets personally involved with. To someone's detriment. READ more about : starchy diet, Christmas 1942, Labor Day, Carl Krolevich, Susan Starrett, Manitou, and Harbor Bridge. UNillustrated. Cond : Paper wrapper iis black with white lettering. A square-jawed Joe Leland appears on the cover. Given its vintage the volume is clean, square, and bright. Almost crispy. No names nor marks. Minor general wear. Excellent reading copy. QUote (p. 111) : " There were two prowl cars nosed in at the curb on Forster Street, and a crowd stood buffing on the sudewalk. The red flashers on the cars swept the first-floor wundows on both sides of the block. Inside ._._._. . " Size: 12mo.
