Synopsis
This volume provides a review of the issues involved in developing effective decision - in particular in relation to good rangeland management. The book is divided into two main sections. Section one deals with considerations for integration, and includes the following - integration of biological simulation models in decision support systems, the role of expert systems, integrating ecological processes with economic analysis, introducing DSS technology in less technologically advanced countries, and linking GIS/remote sensing with decision support systems. Section two deals with considerations for technical applications, and includes the following - technical considerations for development of decision support systems, the role of information networks, training decision-makers to utilize the information technology effectively, how to meet the needs of users, and soft systems - a non-computer view of decisions support.;
