Item description from seller

8vo., First Edition thus, on laid paper, with 28 plates on 16, and front and rear endpaper maps in blue; original cloth, gilt back, a near fine copy in unclipped, mildly age-browned dustwrapper. General Clay's careful yet gripping account of Germany's first four years after WWII. As Allied C-in-C, the author organised the Allied Control Council and outwitted Zhukov with the Berlin Airlift. He also discusses Nuremberg, the Black Market and the all-threatening Iron Curtain. Utterly absorbing. PUBLISHED IN THE SAME YEAR AS THE US EDITION, THE UK EDITION IS CONSIDERABLY SCARCER.
