About this Item
Hardcover with dust jacket, published by World Publishing. First published in 1944, this is the first edition of the film tie-in edition from 1946. The story of two young lovers who have to solve a murder quick before they are accused of the crime. 220 pages, 5-1/2" X 8". Dust jacket is intact and has been protected with a clear, removable cover. Jacket has edge wear, 1" closed tear at the front bottom edge, wear at the corners and head and heel of the spine panel. Black cloth covered cover boards, with 'A Tower mystery' bat design on the front cover board and the title within a green field on the spine panel. Front cover board has what appears to be a faint stain mark on the front cover - 1" to 2" edge of the cover is slightly faded from what was probably a water drop. No damage to the text pages and the cover is not damaged from the stain, just a bit faded. Boards are flat, minor edge wear. Front and back paste-down pages and the title page is illustrated with stills from the film adaptation. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages.Green top-stain is somewhat faded. Edges of the text block are relatively clean considering the type of paper used at the time. Paper stock used is of the somewhat lower 'Wartime' quality, typical of books of this era. Binding is tight. Not a library discard. Attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory. Seller Inventory # 23-11719

Store Description
30 day return guarantee, with full refund including original shipping costs for up to 30 days after delivery if an item arrives misdescribed or damaged.
For international shipments, we might sometimes have to adjust our shipping cost after your order arrives, if we determine that the weight of the book will cause the cost to be significantly more than the standard shipping rate for your country.
We package all of our orders carefully either in a box that has been designed to ship books, or in a padded envelope. We want to make sure you receive your order in the best possible condition!
Our preferred shipping method is USPS Media Mail.
Recently, the USPS has added tracking to Media Mail , which has been a great addition to this service.
If you do choose to have your order shipped "Expedited", my shipping cost may seem higher than expected. Some of our books are large format hardcovers that can cost quite a bit when shipped expedited. So I would like to make sure that I can cover the cost upfront. However, if the actual cost of expedited shipping is less than the charge, I will refund the difference!
