First trade edition. Original dark purple illustrated boards, slightly rubbed at extremities with top hinge slightly tender, lettering on spine faded, boards just beginning to splay. Illustrated with three tipped-in colour illustrations, by Rackham, with tissue guards, and twenty-three drawings in black and white, many full-page Grey pictorial endpapers, illustrated titlepage. A VG copy. Phillpotts was a friend of Agatha Christie, who was an admirer of his work and a regular visitor to his home. In her autobiography she expressed gratitude for his early advice on fiction writing and quoted some of it. (Wikipedia). Seller Inventory # 14999
