An early eleventh printing of the first paperback edition. Pan X235. Originally published in 1958 with different cover artwork - reprinted once the same year and then in 1960 with new cover art - reprinted with this cover seven times between 1961 and 1963 before this eleventh printing which featured the excellent 1950s style cover art by Pat Owen, predating the Raymond Hawkey film tie-in covers of the 60s. ***Near fine in colour illustrated card covers. The edges and corners of the covers show some light rubbing and creasing, commensurate with age and handling over the last 60+ years but are generally very clean and largely undamaged. No splits or tears. All surfaces clean. No spine lean but spine slightly curved from reading - no reading creases. Page block edges tanned and lightly foxed. Covers bright. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions or annotations. Hardly any of the foxing and browning that is usually found with paperbacks from this period - the interior pages are clean. The cheap paper stock is lightly tanned as usual. No creases or tears. ***192 pages. 177mm x 110mm. ***'James Bond surveyed the glittering diamonds that lay scattered across the red leather surface of M's desk and wondered what it was all about. The quiet grey eyes were watching him thoughtfully. Then M took the pipe out of his mouth and dryly gave Bond details of the assignment of which even M was afraid. And Bond walked out of the Headquarters of the Secret Service and into his greatest adventure. For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging materials; any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only; for the UK, our standard rate is for first class, and the priority rate includes tracked (signed for) delivery; for International sales, our standard rate is for Airmail delivery, and the priority rate is for tracked (International signed for) delivery.
