This sympathetic study of philosopher John Dewey traces the consequences of the dominant characteristic of Dewey's thought, which was his desire to resist thinking of the main aspects of human life in isolation from one another, and to resist the institutionalization of their separation. This book seeks to illuminate these features of Dewey's philosophy by relating them to the views of his contemporaries and contrasting them with philosophers of the past. Included are endnotes, a bibliography, and an index. This copy is clean and solid.
