Danny works hard to save a little black pup from being eaten (he succeeds!) & also teaches the young Prince Koko the English alphabet. The book has 5 great illustrated pages showing the Prince twisting his body into shapes of all 26 alphabet letters! This is wonderful tale of HAWAII in the early 19th century, with color illus of island terrain, the ocean, the costumes, festivals, little puppy & kitten, etc.
