Tall 8vo, 223 x 132 mms., pp. vi [vii Index, viii blank], 112, original cloth, paper label (faded), on spine; corners worn, spine snagged, but a good copy with the contemporary ownership inscription "J. Ward/ Surgeon" on the top margin of the title-page. Poor, and unable to obtain funds to complete his medical training, Wilson has, as he asserts in the Preface, "followed the example of the author of Rasselas, and written a book merely for the sake of obtaining a little gold." He alludes to "subscribers," whom he thanks, so the previous owner might have been one of the subscribers, as Wilson did succeed with his medical studies and was "a respectable medical practitioner in Leeds, and one of the surgeons to the House of Recovery in that area" (The poets of Yorkshire, commenced by W.C.
