Item description from seller

[Card game reference] FIRST EDITION. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.222. Publisher's brown cloth hardcovers lettered in gilt, typographic dust-jacket priced at 7/6. Contents clean, one tiny tear to foot of spine. A crisp, fine copy which appears to be unread. This example is from the comprehensive archive assembled by Jon Gilbert (pencil signature within). His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography. Culbertson, a great showman, was widely regarded as "the man who made contract bridge", of which author Ian Fleming was a keen student and player. His novel Moonraker (1955), features the now-famous Bridge game where Drax and Meyer play Bond and M at Blades, where Bond deploys 'The Culbertson Hand'. See Gilbert, Section L. Moonraker (2), p.619.
