Item description from seller

Octavo, 187 pages. This is an ex school library book and there are label traces and a school stamp on the front endpapers. On the rear endpapers there is another school stamp and staining from where sellotape has been preciously used to hold down the protective sleeve. The staining has also affected the edge of the dustwrapper flap at the rear. However, there is no Dewey number on either the spine or the dustwrapper. Now in a new protective sleeve. Young person's novel - "Considering their daughter too young to marry at sixteen, Penny's parents send her away from her Birmingham home to act as secretary/companion to an old lady in her house on Bredon Hill where Penny's grandmother was once housekeeper.".
