Landscape 246 x 350mm, 73 pp. 35 Illustrations with hand-written captions and descriptive text opposite. Original royal blue blind-stamped cloth, gilt, all edges gilt, pale yellow endpapers. Six tiny puncture marks progressively reducing until by the end of the book only one is left and it barely seen, creasing to the ffep, a hint of a crease to the upper board, covers slightly rubbed otherwise a VG copy with very clean plates. First edition. Records the cruise of two heavy cavalry officers from Southampton via Gibraltar, Zante, Mytica ending in Malta with inland excursions along the way. J. O'H may have been James O'Hara of Lenaboy Co. Galway, J.P. and D.L., Lieut.-Col. late Commanding 5th Brigade North Irish Division, R.A., formerly Capt. 2nd Dragoon Guards, b. 21 Sept. 1832 ; educated at Eton. He was the pseudonymous author of 'The Cruise of the Mary' also published by Forster of Dublin undated and in a similar format, 215 x 308mm, with very similar humorous drawings with hand written captions. Rare, WorldCat locates only two copies, COPAC a further two. Seller Inventory # 15030
