A first edition of R. Robson's comprehensive history of the British cotton trade, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. A lovely first edition of this work on the development of the cotton industry in Britain. Robson gives an account of the processes of the cotton trade; its development as an industry; the locations of cotton districts; specialisms within the cotton industry; comparisons of various factories and firms; prices and investment; and the Government's regulation of the trade. This work includes tables and figures for various aspects of the industry, making it a wonderful resource for research. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in lovely condition, with just one small bump to the head of the spine. Dust wrapper is somewhat sunned to the spine and upper extremities; there is a stain to the tail of the spine and a little edgewear to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Offsetting to the front and rear free end papers, and the odd spot to the fore edge, and first and last couple of pages, but otherwise the pages are bright and clean. Near Fine.…
