Item description from seller

An uncommon exploration of Russian cooking, from American writing couple George and Helen Papashvily. First edition. In the publisher's original pictorial boards. With coloured illustrations throughout the text.A compelling volume on Russian cuisine, with histories behind traditional dishes and recipes, narrated with George's own childhood memories and anecdotes.Recipes include a classic Ukha (clear fish soup with lime and dill), Syrniki (sweet cheese fritters) and Agurkai su Rukcscia Grietne (cucumber and soured-cream salad). From American writers Helen and George Papashvily, who together wrote several books, often based on George's life experiences as a Georgian emigrant. Their first book 'Anything Can Happen' was a surprise hit in 1945, soon published as an Armed Services Edition to be distributed to American troops fighting in World War II. In the original pictorial boards. Externally, very smart, with shelf wear and fading to the spine. A couple marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good Indeed.
