This book has been prepared in an attempt to provide the general reader with a clear framework of the war, a perspective which will enable him to see the available specialised material in context. The detailed month-by-month chronology reminds the reader of the developments on other fronts which occurred simutaneously with the various victories and defeats, and of the gradual process, operational and technical, which often effected those victories and defeats signficantly. Illustrated. 232 pp.
