Collated complete. A collection of humorous animal writings, including: Bills of Birds, The Barn Owl, Snakes, The Panther I Did Not Shoot, The Coconut Tree, as well as a memoir of the author. Written by Edward Hamilton Aitken, a civil servant in India and founding member of the Bombay Natural History Society. Illustrated by William James Affleck Shepherd, an English illustrator best known for his anthropomorphic animal drawings and cartoons. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light bumping to the extremities. Fading tot he spine and the odd mark to the board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Very Good.
