Description:
First Edition (London, 1949). No markings, annotations, or inscriptions. Internally fine. Tanning to page block, with dust-toning to the top edge. Dust jacket is clipped but otherwise complete and free from conspicuous damage. Mild chipping to the spine bottom (all titling unaffected) constitutes the principal visible damage. Two short closed tears, to the front and back respectively, with a fine tear descending down the back fold for about 1.5cm from the back top corner. Spine is toned, with some small stains and light abrasions (again, the titling remains clear and largely unaffected). The back of the spine has been reinforced/repaired with a short strip of tape. Blue cloth with fine gilt titling to the spine. The boards remain clean and sharp, with a slight press to the spine ends and (very) gentle rubbing to the corners. Thus: internally fine (and unmarked), beneath fine boards and a good clipped dust jacket. 334pp. Seller Inventory # 2717
