The Complete Keyboard Player Book 1 by Kenneth Baker is a beginner-friendly keyboard method and songbook designed for those starting on piano or electronic keyboard. It provides a clear, structured introduction to playing through familiar songs, making it ideal for adult learners, hobbyists, and anyone returning to music after a break. No prior musical knowledge is required, allowing new players to build confidence from the very first notes.
Combining easy-to-follow explanations with practical playing material, this course introduces essential keyboard skills including hand position, rhythm, single-finger and fingered chords, and major and seventh chords. The included online audio demonstrations and backing tracks support flexible practice, with features that allow slowing down tempo, looping sections, and adjusting keys to suit individual progress.
This edition combines easy-to-read standard notation with chord guidance and practical explanations that help players understand both melody and accompaniment. Learners are guided through core foundations such as playing technique, keyboard functions, and accompaniment styles, building a well-rounded understanding of how to play and develop musically.
What makes this book particularly effective is its balance between structured learning and musical enjoyment. By integrating well-known songs into each stage of progress, it keeps practice engaging while reinforcing new skills in a natural, memorable way. Players not only learn how to play, but also how to listen, adapt, and develop musical expression at their own pace.
