A NEW, bright, clean, tight, collector-worthy copy sans flaws in publisher's original-issue shrinkwrap. Book published in conjunction with the 1996-97 exhibition of the same name exhibited at the Currier Gallery of Art, Manchester, NH and the Wichita Art Museum, Wichita, KS. From the book's Preface: "This catalogue and the exhibition it accommpanies celebrate one of the great resources of New Hampshire, the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough. Though MacDowell is the oldest and largest artists' retreat in America, it is not well known to the public at large precisely because it strives to offer a protected nurturing environment away form the workaday world, where artists can concentrate on creative endeavors." PROLIFICALLY ILLUSTRATED in black & white photography and 52 full-color plates of MacDowell artworks, all with accompanying descriptive captions. 104 pages. GN3.
