Item description from seller

Deep purple, pebbled-cloth over boards, with blindstamped decoration and gilt titles on spine. The spine is badly sunned and there is some edge, corner and surface wear. Book is square and the binding secure. Remnant of old label lower spine, probably from a personal library filing system; the book is not ex-libris. Bookplate and two small areas of brown magic marker on front pastedown, and signatures of former owners on second free endpaper. See scan. G= to VG-. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 402 pages; This book is of interest because it is a Rome, Georgia imprint -- few and far between. Dwinell was born in Vermont in 1825, moved to Georgia and served the Confederacy during the Civil War, being wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg. He was the owner, publisher, and editor of the Rome, Georgia, Courier. He traveled to Southern Europe, Egypt and Palestine in the spring and summer of 1876, and to the American west coast in the fall of that year. This book recounts his travels through letters.
