viii, 323 p. Index. This text surveys the last 10 years of the Earth's most extreme weather activity and speculates on its source as well as what the future has in store. "If you think the world's weather catastrophes are becoming more frequent and more powerful, you're right. Ten of the last eleven years have been the hottest on record, and in just five of those years, the U.S. suffered two "hurricanes of the century, " at least two "floods of the century, " and one "drought of the century. " Is this a coincidence, or is the way we live wreaking havoc on our weather? Journalist Bob Reiss shares America's growing fascination with the phenomenon of extreme weather, painting an ominous forecast for the twenty-first century. " First edition. First edition stated.
