Item description from seller

280p + 33 plates, 22 in color. Withdrawn ex-lib., with usual marks. Very thorough account of color printing in books and prints from the 15th century through photomechanical reproduction--chiaroscuro, aquatint, chromolithography, and much more. Emphasis on the 18th and 19th centuries in England and Europe. The "modern processes" are chiefly those for reproducing color photographs. Good (slightly shaken; one 4-page gathering of the preface is detached).
