From the Back Cover
COLONEL BUTLER’S WOLF
Top British Intelligence Agent Colonel Butler was investigating the background of a young university lecturer who had died under suspicious circumstances.
At Oxford he was told that foreign agents were systematically ruining the careers of the most of promising students – and a car he was travelling in was attacked by a mysterious sniper.
In Northumberland, at the parental home of the dead lecturer’s girlfriend, the redoubtable Dr Audley put in an appearance, and sent Butler on a hiking tour.
Audley’s plan was to use Colonel Butler as a decoy to flush out a new Soviet agent. And as he followed Hadrian’s Wall, the deadly chess game entered its final phase...
