All first editions, first impressions except for 'The Earnest Drinker', which is a second impression.Complete with the publisher's original dust wrappers, all unclipped except for 'The Good Fare', 'Cooking for Love' and 'Drinking with Pepys'.An interesting collection of culinary titles offering a range of recipes, histories and gastronomic reminiscences. Among other volmes, this set includes three works from Norwegian historian Oscar A. Mendelsohn, a collection of mushroom recipes by Countess Morphy (Marcelle Hincks), stew recipes from Elizabeth Craig, and a study of the development of food fads by Terence McLaughlin.The entirety of this set includes the following works: 'The Earnest Drinker' (1951) by Oscar A. Mendelsohn 'Good Appetite My Companion: A Gourmand at Large' (1955) by Victor MacClure 'Cooking for Love' (1959) by Maria Floris 'The Good Fare and Cheer of Old England' (1960) by Joan Parry Dutton 'Drinking with Pepys' (1963) by Oscar A. Mendelsohn 'Kitchen and Table: A Bedside History of Eating in the Western World' (1964) by Colin Clair 'A Salute to Onions: Some Reflections on Cookery and Cooks' (1965) by Oscar A. Mendelsohn 'Mushroom Recipes' (1966) by Countess Morphy 'Mrs Manders" Cookbook' (1968) by Olga Sarah Manders - With illustrations by David Knight. 'Elizabeth Craig"s Hotch Potch' (1978) 'A Diet of Tripe: The Chequered History of Food Reform' (1978) by Terence McLaughlin In the original cloth bindings. With the original dust wrappers, Externally, majority of volumes are very smart, with mild instances of shelf wear. With the exception of 'Earnest Drinker', which is damp stained to the boards. Dust wrappers display varying degrees of wear, with most notable instances to 'Good Appetite', 'Good Fare', and 'Earnest Drinker'. With chipping to the spine head and tail. 'Good Appetite' wrap is split in two parts, with additional edge wear. Sunning to the spine of 'Drinking with Pepys' and tape reinforcing a closed tear to the spine of 'Kitchen and Table'. Remaining dust wrappers are very smart, with milder edge wear and handling marks only. Internally, firmly bound. Majority of volumes are bright and clean, with the bookplate of ones Martin and Pamela Finch to the front free endpapers of several. Exceptions include spotting to the fore edge of 'Cooking for Love', affecting the margins of the pages and with spots to the endpapers. Offsetting and light spotting to the endpapers of 'Good Appetite'. Very Good.…
