34 volumes plus 4 volumes of essays for a total of 38 volumes. Published in 1974 and 1975 on what would have been the centenary of Churchill's birth. Each volume hand bound in full natural calfskin vellum. Green levanto marbled endpapers. Titling in 22 karat gold; decorative front is Churchill's personal coast of arms inscribed in 22 karate gold. Gilt edges in 22 karate gold. Each volume housed in its original green leatherette slipcase stamped with the Churchill coat of arms in gilt. Frontispieces, and folding maps and illustrations throughout. This set is accompanied by a collection of letters to the original subscriber from The Library of Imperial History on their headed paper with a pamphlet describing the contents of The Collected Essays of Sir Winston Churchill. And includes a complete, numbered, set of unused bookplates. Originally scheduled as a Limited Edition set of 3,000 copies: 1,000 sets for North America and 2,000 sets for UK, the Commonwealth and rest of world. This set is number 2067. The Library of Imperial History went bankrupt and it is in doubt that all 3,000 copies of this set were ever produced. Published for subscribers and universities only. Was not for sale to the general public. In this set there is slight discoloration on a few volumes as usual. Some cases have slight scuff marks. A fine, unread set. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.
