If you enjoyed the Codice/Codex Borgia or have a passion for Aztec and pre-Columbian Mexican art, this edition will undoubtedly appeal to you. This is the facsimile of the Codex Veitia, commissioned in 1775 by the Spanish nobleman Don Mariano Fernández de Echevarría y Veytia with the goal of preserving the rapidly vanishing culture of the Aztecs. The manuscript records a variety of rites and celebrations across 138 pages measuring 216 × 150 mm (8.5 × 6 inches), enriched with 22 extraordinarily vivid and beautiful illustrations. The original codex is held today in the Biblioteca del Palacio Real in Madrid under the shelfmark MS 2951. It is the youngest member of the group of Mexican manuscripts known as the Magliabecchiano Group, which also includes the Magliabecchiano, Tudela, and Ixtlilxochitl codices. In addition to its depictions of festivals and ceremonies, the manuscript offers insights into Aztec numeration, the founding of Tenochtitlan (present-day Mexico City), and more. This facsimile edition is an essential addition for anyone interested in pre-Columbian art and culture. It is in like-new condition, currently in stock in our warehouse, and ready for worldwide shipping for you to study pre-Columbian art and culture in depth.…
