If successful this would have extended the Pacific war diverting Allied troops from Europe and allowing Hitler to regroup. It was eventually sunk by British submarine Venturer; the only recorded instance of a submarine being sunk by another submarine. Doubtful premise, but a good read. Seller Inventory # 90044
