Item description from seller
Warming of the climate system is unequivocal. Growing atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases is leading to global warming. Climate change is the greatest externality the world has ever seen. It is expected to have wide ranging impact on the lives of millions the world over and more significantly in Asia. For example while South Asian countries like India, Pakistan and Nepal are getting more vulnerable to increased frequency and intensity of droughts countries of South West Asia with humid climates, sufferer from extreme events such as tropical cyclones. Drawing evidence from Asian countries, the book raises important issues concerning water, livelihoods, carbon tradition and data gaps in understanding climate change impacts. It has also raised a number of policy questions relating to climate change adaptation and mitigation. It is hoped that the book would go a long way in documenting current concerns on climate change in Asia. (jacket).
